Dexter was not our dog––he was our son. We knew from the moment we first saw him, when he ran up to Veronica at the foster home, that he would change our lives forever. The poor guy was 30lbs overweight, neglected, but all he needed was love. Over the course of three-and-a-half wonderful years, we got to help Dexter blossom into a dog that touched everyone he met. Though a city pup at heart, he loved frequent trips to: Huntington Dog Beach, a cabin in Los Padres National Forest, the vineyards of Solvang and Santa Barbara, and daily walks to the local park to visit his pals. With a charming disposition and endless patience, he quickly became the Laurel Ave. neighborhood ambassador and welcomed all new dogs as if they were his own kin.
Dexter’s sudden departure has left a hole in many lives, but his gentle, old soul can never be extinguished. He lives on through his friends and family that will always remember him as one of the sweetest, most lovable dogs around––a big body pillow that was always content to snuggle in with his parents and a good movie.
We love you, Dexter, and know you are with us always.
