Our boy Halo is a Flat Coated Retriever mix. Mixed with what? A whole lotta sugar ~ as evident by the sprinkling on his chin and his back toes, and the fact he is so very sweet! Halo is about the friendliest dog you will ever meet. He loves people, kids, dogs…life! Guarantee YOU will make new friends with this boy at your side.
Halo came to us through the shelter system after his family did not show up to claim him. He had a large subcutaneous mass removed (weighing 8 pounds!) from his left rear leg. The good news is that there was no malignancy noted, but it had inhibited his gait. Every day Halo goes for a couple walks along the shore and is up to a couple of miles at a stretch. He continues to building up muscle strength in that back leg. Halo LOVES his walks.

Halo is the perfect companion; he is so easy going. A giant lap dog, Halo needs a family that will not be upset if he climbs on the sofa for a cuddle (an 80 lb cuddle!) or if they find him climbing into bed with them. He is fine when left alone during the workday but would love to accompany his people to work if their environment would allow.
Halo walks well on leash, although he does pull a bit at the start or when he wants to meet another dog; he loves road trips and rides great in the car; he enjoys wading along the shore but will not swim out to retrieve a ball. Actually, the water has nothing to do with his retrieving skills…he is just not interested. He may bring it back once or twice but then he is off meeting new friends. Halo is housebroken, has great indoor manners, and takes up a lot of space on the sofa.
If you think Halo is the roommate you are looking for, contact firstname.lastname@example.org and introduce yourself. Let us know why Halo is the one for you.
All interested parties must have completed an online application and a home visit from one of our volunteers before being considered for a meeting with this gentle giant.
