Become an International Flight Volunteer

SCGRR’s preference is always to have dogs travel with passengers for safety and cost. If you are planning travel from Seoul, Shanghai, or Istanbul to Los Angeles, you can literally help us save lives. This has been such a rewarding experience for many passengers that have answered our call for help.

Our rescue partners overseas handle booking logistics for the dog on your flight in advance, meet travelers at the airport two hours prior to the flight departure with the dogs and all paperwork, and will help you get the dog(s) checked in for the flight. Finally, you will be given all of the dog’s paperwork to deliver to our volunteer once you arrive in Los Angeles.

SCGRR handles all of the US permits and paperwork in advance. Flight passengers must provide a copy of their itinerary and passport photo to SCGRR so that we can ensure all customs requirements are met on our end. You will have contact information for our lead on-site volunteer so if there are any questions along the way, they are there to make sure all goes smoothly.

At the end of the journey, we need your help in claiming the dogs at LAX and bring them through customs. Here SCGRR volunteers will be waiting anxiously for your arrival with food, water, and tips ($$) for any porters you might get to help. Our on-site lead will be in communication with you all the way through the process.

If your time permits at the end of the journey, you are welcome to meet the dogs you so graciously escorted. We will supply everything needed to welcome the dogs allowing a break before they are transported by our volunteers to the vet.
