Meet Charlotte! Adoption Pending!
This sweet, sugar-faced pup is Charlotte. She came to us when her owners’ living situation changed and felt they could not offer her everything she needed. Completely housebroken and a great houseguest, Charlotte is looking for a new family to give her love and companionship.
Charlotte just turned 11 at the end of Oct but acts much younger than her years. She’s ready to go anywhere and everywhere with you, loves to ride in the car and can even jump into the backseat of a large SUV by herself. She does well on a leash, can walk at least 2 miles in a single outing and will stay nearby when off leash. Charlotte knows the basic commands like “sit”, “down”, “come” and we are working on “stay”.
We were told that Charlotte did not care for other dogs, but found that she likes other dogs as long as they are not confrontational and don’t bark at her. Now she gets to go to the park every day and encounters all types of dogs and loves to play chase! The only time she has barked at her foster house is when the pool guy showed up. Speaking of pools, we also found out the Charlotte likes to swim! This is great for a senior who needs to lose a few.
Charlotte is good to be left alone for a couple of hours at a time, but don’t think she would do well with being alone for long periods. When left alone, she’s counter-surfed (got an entire loaf of pumpkin bread) and tried chew up a couple of rolls of toilet paper. We are not sure if she was left inside or outside at her previous home, but we do know that she will not go outside by herself. Being with her humans is very important to her.
Charlotte will follow you around the house but doesn’t need to be sitting by your side at all times. She sleeps great through the night next to your bed and has no interest in climbing on furniture. She is food motivated but not food aggressive and gently takes treats. She likes to chew on no-hide bones, or a frozen Kong and she loves apples. When she came to us it was known that she had some allergies and minor itching. We are working to resolve and hope to have solution by the time she’s adopted.
Charlotte was around children in her previous home so she would be great with kids. She would be fine in a home with a mellow dog but we are not sure about cats. She would really do well where someone is home most of the time or where she could accompany you to work.
If you feel like you have a home that would make Charlotte happy, please contact her rep at email@example.com . Please ensure that your on-line application has been submitted and your in home interview completed, otherwise we will be unable to consider you.
At 11 yrs old, the minimum adoption fee for Charlotte is $300.
