***Teffy*** RIP Always in our hearts
- It is with the heaviest of hearts that we write to let you all know that Teffy passed away this evening. We are so very sorry, and all of us in rescue were hoping she would make it.
Last night, her foster parents noticed she just wasn't herself - she growled at her foster sister which wasn't like her, and she was panting more than normal. Today, she went in for a routine ear cleaning of the "good" ear and she was doing very well. When she left the vet's she jumped into the front seat of the car from the back because she wanted to sit with foster mum. She got home, hung out with the family by the pool and was seemingly very happy.
Then, she began struggling for breath, and her tongue was turning grey. She was rushed back to her vets after closing time, they opened up specially for her - and Valerie our wonderful vet tech rushed in from home as well. X-Rays showed no obstruction anywhere, but she just couldn't get air. She was intubated, on oxygen, but now her temperature was rising rapidly. We got her into the bath at the hospital, and put ice packets in the water to try to get her cool. Her temperature began to recede a little, but then shot back up to 109.
Sadly, at that temperature she wasn't going to make it. Since temperature and breathing is controlled by the brain, it's a good chance this was caused by the fungi/infection finding it's way there.
Thank you to every one of you who donated to help her - you allow us to be able to try to help these amazing gentle beings. To every one of you that thought about Teffy for any moment of time and held her in your heart, thank you. Everyone who was caring for her did everything they could to help her, we absolutely promise you that.
