Bader (named for Ruth Bader Ginsburg), a 3 year old Labrador mix, came to us from another organization where the adopter decided they were not the right fit for her. It took Bader about a week to settle in with her new fosters. All the noises in an apartment complex seemed to stress her out, but she has settled in quite nicely.
Bader is a great work from home buddy and will sleep under your desk or on your bed. She loves to cuddle and be close to you. She is a big fan of kisses on the mouth and loves to show affection this way (probably because of her keen nose!) She’s a dynamic girl, being calm in the apartment while fosters work during the day but once outside, she is full of energy!
She LOVES walks and gets super excited whenever she sees shoes being put on. She can be vocal when she wants something, but is super smart and has learned how things go in your routine. She also loves running around the dog park, she just wants to sniff everything! She gets along with all other dogs she’s met so far, but once she greets with a quick hello, she’s off on her scent trail. Fosters have worked on heel and she has become better on a leash.
She is not a fan of car rides, she whines/barks and seems very anxious but are trying to work on it. Bader’s been prone to counter surfing and has an incredible nose, being able to find anything left out. She’s working on it and very responsive to corrections. Bader is excited by people and will jump with excitement to meet you, therefore we believe a home with older children that she can’t knock over and/or steal food from.
My Ideal Home
Bader’s perfect home would be with humans who are home most of the time and lead an active lifestyle. A place where she can continue to explore, while still learning basic commands and rules of the house. Children over the age of 10 would be acceptable. Possibility of another dog, based on their chemistry (no younger than 3 or older than 9, depending on energy), however she may do better as only dog, with socialization outside of the house. No cats! She would do great in a home with a yard so she can sniff and run around! We are unclear as to whether she would be interested in a pool at this time.
