About Me

Hi my name is KENJI; my fosters call me CHANCE. I am approximately 2 years old. SCGRR believes I am a Golden and Great Pyrenees mix because of gold spots on my ears and rear dewclaws. My prior owners had adopted me from a shelter where I was found as a stray. Shortly after adopting me, my family had a medical crisis and felt it wouldn’t be fair to me so they contacted my new friends at SCGRR.

I’m super smart, affectionate and fun-loving but I was lacking manners when I arrived at SCGRR. My foster folks signed up a trainer and I have LOVED working. It’s like I was born to have a job. Structured walks with a back pack make me feel so important. I’m a fast learner and my foster folks brag about how far I’ve come. I know mental challenges are good for me and keep me out of trouble. I could walk, jog, roam or play for hours. I love my crate also – it makes me feel secure and safe. I sleep next to my foster parents, love meeting the neighbors having play time and gracing everyone with my affection.

I adore my yard – it’s great entertainment to play, explore, roll in the grass and doze under the trees. I even try to climb trees to catch squirrels. I have a bit of wanderlust when I’m bored – if the gate is left open, I will head out to explore the neighborhood but I’m not an escape artist. I am great at demolishing “indestructible” toys quickly so an ample supply is preferred. I also like to follow my foster mom around the house. Because I am still big, young and energetic I probably would do better with kids over 10 so they don’t get knocked over. I might treat cats like I do squirrels so best not to put me with a feline. I have done well with my older, female fur sibling – she has taught me boundaries and how to be a dog. A similar female canine companion would be best. I do require calm and proper introductions to other dogs. I will bark at other dogs when I pass them on the street.

My Ideal Home

For my family, I would like someone who is very active and that is willing to continue working on my training while setting good boundaries for me. Any kids should be over 10 years old. If there is someone at home quite a bit, that would be awesome too. I would be a great hiking partner and need your commitment to at least several structured walks a day in my back-pack as well as provide me with mental challenges. I could be your one and only or happy to meet a senior canine lady to continue to be my mentor.

I MUST have a decent sized yard to explore and with a bit of grass to roll around in and for playful romps. You may also want to have a self-closing / latching gate just in case I get bored. No small critters unless you plan to make it my job to protect them (or chase them off) during the day.

Want to Adopt me?

If you are my ideal home, please make sure that you have submitted your adoption application and have already had your in-home visit. Then send a detailed email about why I should choose you to my friend Donald: dbldawgs@gmail.com. I’m currently residing in Seal Beach.
