About Me

This little gem is named Maddy. Maddy is a sparkling example of everything you want in a golden: affectionate, friendly, and loyal. This mellow pup will love joining the family for movie night, will sit quietly by while you are working at your desk or gladly trot along with the group on a hike. In short, Abby is a fabulous companion.

Maddy’s former owners reluctantly gave her up when a family member developed a severe allergy to her. The family reached out to the Rescue asking us to secure a bright future for Maddy with a new forever family.

Maddy loves people of all ages . She enjoys playing tug of war and wrestling with other playful pups. Maddy reads social cues very well and is also respectful of other dogs’ space. Maddy does not have an excessive chewing tendency with toys, furniture, or other house belongings provided she gets enough physical exercise and mental stimulation. However, she does put random objects such as socks, rocks, and wood chips and what have you in her mouth. Consequently, Maddy should be watched around toxic plants or other harmful objects. After all, she is a puppy.

Maddy is housebroken and crate trained. She knows how to walk well with a halter. Maddy eats her food nicely and does not counter surf. Although we were told that she has allergies they appear to be under control, and we have not done any testing on her. Maddy also knows “sit” very well, and will not jump on you if you tell her no. She seems not to know other basic obedience commands but is improving and learning very quickly. Lastly. Maddy is learning to not mouth with a firm verbal reminder. She does not suffer from separation anxiety and she has successfully been left home alone with her foster fur brother for several hours.

My Ideal Home

Maddy is one of those dogs that will fit nicely into most homes. That said, she would enjoy a second pup to engage with and frequent walks. She is a puppy, thus she needs a human(s) around most, if not all of the time-she will not do well on her own for 8+ hours a day. An active family with a yard as well as access to obedience training will be a plus (although she really is a very, very good girl).
