About Me

Hi, I am Petunia but my foster mom calls me “Bella” which I respond to. I am a sweet, energetic and loving girl, inside and out. I recently had my front right leg amputated as the rescue found me at the Los Angeles shelter and most likely I ran away and was hit by a car again. My back rear leg also has a metal plate in it and they think my previous owners fixed it when I was hit by a car. My foster mom keeps a close eye on me and makes sure I get lots of exercise so I won’t find ways to escape and get hurt.

Although I have these slight disabilities, it does not prevent me from jumping on the couch (where I love to sleep during the day), on the bed (where I love to sleep at night), run around and chase my foster brothers inside, outside and up/down the stairs. I love walks and riding in the car, they make sure I have a seatbelt harness as I get excited when I see a dog. I am potty trained but have had a few accidents so my foster mom makes sure she gets me out to the backyard every couple of hours.

I love to give my humans a kiss when they come home and am always ready to go for a walk. I love to smile and share my joy of life with anyone and everyone! I love to snuggle with my humans and play with my foster siblings although I am partial to the boys more than the girls. I am very ”Velcro” and follow my foster Mom and Dad and their dogs everywhere. I get so excited for our walks and park time. I take little naps after meals when the other dogs are napping or while we watch TV. I also love other dogs and dog parks.

Although I just had my front leg amputated, I am very adept in walking, jumping, running on 3 legs. My foster mom says I am faster than the dogs with 4 legs.

My Ideal Home

Petunia (Bella) came from the Los Angeles rescue so we don’t know about her previous life but she is a well adjusted “happy” pup. She is about 2 years old and is a BIG puppy. She would be best with older children as she can get over excited but has a wonderful and loving temperament. She is happy and outgoing with no known health issues. Truly a sweet, sweet girl! She will thrive in a household that wants to include her in all their activities. Whether it is walking, hiking, beach time or just chilling on the couch, she will be your constant companion.

She doesn’t like to be crated and we think this is what she had in the past as her left canine tooth is shorter than the right so we think chewed her crate. At the foster home, she has no problems sleeping – at the end bed or on the multiple dog beds in the Master Bedroom. She definitely wants to be close to her humans. Currently her foster home has a slider that they leave partially open so she and the other dogs go outside on their own. Also both foster parents work from home.

Ideally, her forever family would need to be home most of the time and due to her high energy, it would be great for them to be active OR she should have a foster brother to pay with because she LOVES to play. But most importantly she needs to be loved and feel special. Bella is currently fostered in South Orange County.
