Hi! My name is Red, and I’m a 3 year old lab mix who came to this rescue when my mom became ill and unable to care for me. She asked SCGRR to find a loving home for me. I was initially overwhelmed after leaving the life I was used to, and it took some time for me to adjust to the new changes. My foster mom and dad are so patient and understanding and I’ve settled into my foster home nicely. I have two canine foster siblings to play with too. I’ve learned that changes can be challenging at first, but can provide opportunities for better things to come.
I’m learning some basic commands, and most of the time I will sit to be petted and take treats without being asked, as it’s my nature to want to please. Also, my mom and dad say I’m a fast learner. I love to get pets from my foster parents, but I understand that I can’t get their attention all of the time, and am content just being near them. When my parents are busy working, I keep busy by keeping the backyard free of pesky squirrels. I get super excited when going for walks and rides in the car. I do react to other dog’s barking and pull on the leash because I get nervous with all the new things out there. My foster parents have been working with me on leash walking and have been exposing me to different situations. I’ve been making steady progress. As time goes on, I will be a great hiking/jogging buddy and am looking forward to enjoying many activities with my family.
My Ideal Home
While I could be your one and only, I think it would be fun to have a canine sibling to pal around with. A yard to run around and play in would be a big bonus too. My new family will be patient with me as I continue to learn and be more comfortable with unfamiliar surroundings and situations. I haven’t been exposed to small children in my foster home, but I think older, respectful kids would be ok.
