Seth

After 14 months of living the good life, it was time to help our permanent foster Seth cross the rainbow bridge. Seth was our Golden mix from Mexico with degenerative myelopathy, a neurological disease similar to Lou Gherig’s disease for which there is no cure. Although his mobility significantly decreased, his foster mom and dad Loretta and Tony Mathis gave him perhaps the best 14 months of his life. No longer living on the streets of Mexico, Seth always had several plush dog beds to choose from, including his favorite place on the sofa where he got plenty of affection and stroking. It was his favorite place to bury his head and fall asleep knowing he was safe and secure. He had quite the healthy appetite, barking when he knew his meal was being prepared and never having to worry about competing for food. He loved to eat, and enjoyed the occasional treat of chicken, salmon, or steak. I think his favorite was gnawing on a bully stick while on one of his plush dog pillows!

Seth’s 14 months were filled with many motorhome trips visiting places such as the Colorado Rockies, the Pacific Northwest, and his most recent trip to Texas to experience the total solar eclipse. It really didn’t matter where we went, Seth just loved being with us and enjoyed the companionship of our other pups Carey and Layla. He especially enjoyed the company of our 6 year old Layla who would often cuddle with him on the sofa and fall asleep.

Photos can tell his story the best. I know you will enjoy the attached photos along with their captions. Dogs with special needs often generate the strongest bonds. Seth will forever hold a very special place in our hearts.
